Frequently Asked Questions
General Practice Questions
What is occupational therapy in the context of stress and nervous system regulation?
Occupational therapy supports your ability to engage meaningfully in daily life. In my practice, I use neuro-informed, body-based strategies to help clients manage stress, build resilience, and restore function when the nervous system is overwhelmed.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes, I offer both in-person and virtual sessions depending on your location and needs. Virtual appointments are only available to clients located in New York and Florida at this time.
Where are you located?
I currently practice in NYC and Westchester County, NY.
Are you a medical doctor?
No — I’m a licensed occupational therapist with a post-professional doctorate (OTD) specializing in nervous system health and stress physiology. While I’m not an MD, I do hold a clinical doctorate, and using “Dr. Taylor” does help make those student loan payments feel a little more worth it!
Services & Specialties
What is biofeedback, and how does it work?
Biofeedback is a science-backed technique that teaches you how to regulate your nervous system in real time. Using technology to track signals like heart rate variability, I guide clients through body-based practices that build awareness, calm reactivity, and support recovery from stress. Biofeedback is effective for anxiety, performance optimization, and managing chronic symptoms like fatigue, migraines, and dysautonomia.
Is this therapy only for people with a diagnosis?
No. While I often work with neurodivergent individuals or those managing anxiety, burnout, or chronic stress, my services are open to anyone seeking better regulation, focus, or well-being. I have worked with CEOs, professional athletes, and performers to sustain their health and competitive edge.
Do you work with children or adults?
Both. I work with adults, professionals, and families navigating stress, chronic conditions, or emotional reactivity. With children, I focus on co-regulation and helping parents understand their child's nervous system—so the work supports the whole family, not just behavior.
Do you work with chronic illness or medically complex clients?
Yes. Many of my clients are navigating persistent symptoms like chronic fatigue, POTS, long COVID, migraines, or autoimmune flare-ups. My approach supports nervous system regulation, pacing, and emotional resilience—especially when traditional treatments fall short or symptoms feel overwhelming
What happens in a session?
Sessions are personalized, but may include nervous system education, sensory-based strategies, breathwork, interoceptive awareness, HRV biofeedback, or co-regulation coaching. My goal is to give you practical tools that stick—so you can feel better between sessions, not just during them.
Can I come in for just a consultation or short term support?
Yes. Whether you’re feeling stuck, exploring a new diagnosis, or just want guidance on nervous system health, I offer short-term packages and one-time consults to support clarity and next steps.
Are sessions in person or virtual?
I offer both in-person and virtual sessions depending on your location and needs. I currently see clients in NYC and Westchester County, NY, and virtually across New York and Florida. Virtual sessions can be just as effective for many of the services I provide, including biofeedback training, nervous system coaching, and parent support. We'll work together to find what format best supports your goals.
